In this post, I’m sharing a simple list featuring talented authors to read this year. This is a growing and changing list… as I discover new authors, I’ll continue sharing about them in blog posts and linking them here.
I don’t know about you, but as a reader, I’m always looking for the next book to add to my TBR (to-be-read) list. The challenge, though? There are way more books out there than you or I will ever have time to read. How do you know which ones are worth your time?
I love to take recommendations from friends, family, and favorite bloggers or podcasters (like Modern Mrs. Darcy). It always helps to have recommendations before diving into a new-to-you author’s work. Once I’ve read a book or two from an author, I know whether I like their style, and often can trust that I’ll enjoy most of their books. Those are the authors that are making it on this list.
Even as I have enjoyed these talented authors’ books, I know this is completely subjective. You may not like everything that I like, and that’s okay. You also might find some of these authors are perfect for a sunny beach read while others ask you to curl up by the fire on a rainy day.
Yes, take them with a grain of salt. But I hope the fact that I have enjoyed them can be a small comfort to you.

Authors to Read This Year
This list is a compilation of many of the authors and books I have mentioned in other blog posts. It will grow and fluctuate as I continue to read and share what I’ve loved. Know that it is not exhaustive–I’m missing so many wonderful authors, some that I’ve read and many that I haven’t.
(If you have some you’d like to recommend, reply to one of my emails or comment on a Facebook or Instagram post!)
I’ve roughly organized the authors into categories based on their genres. Below each author’s name, I have included a book that you may want to start with, and I’ve also included a link to blog posts where I discuss the author in more depth if you’d like to learn more and see other book recommendations from that author.
Note: Sometimes, it’s difficult to fit an author into one genre. Many write books that span genres–for example, Roseanna M. White writes many suspense-filled historical romances… I supposed I would file that under historical, but it is so much more! Others write some books in one genre and others in another. I’ll file those under whatever genre fits the recommended book.
I hope this list helps you fill out your TBR list–we all know how tough it is to be book naked!
